I recently went to New York to look for a fake Goyard bag. I figured it would be a great way to start off my summer – a brand-new bag that looks like “the real thing”! What could be better?
So I headed off and did some research about the shop that supposedly had these beautiful bags. I figured if I was going to invest in a bag, I wanted to make sure I was getting the real deal. I had heard so many stories of knockoffs that quickly faded or started to unravel after just a few weeks.
The shop was tucked away in a small corner of the city and it had a few tantalizing displays of Goyard bags – each one seemingly more dazzling than the next. Everyone around me seemed to be oohing and aahing and I quickly decided that this was the place.
I asked around and eventually found the salesperson in charge. We chatted for a minute and I asked her directly about the authenticity of the bags. She nodded and then handed me a yellow receipt, saying that I could find details about authenticity on the back. Of course, I asked her to double-check for me!
The moment had finally arrived. I pulled out my wallet and opened it up – and found myself holding a bag in my hands that was decidedly not a Goyard! I goggled and looked at the salesperson in disbelief. She stammered that she couldn’t have known – but I wasn’t too happy.
Still, this experience wasn’t all bad. I found an incredible bargain – the knockoff was still quite beautiful and it was only a fraction of the cost of a Goyard original. Plus, I learned to be extra careful when making an investment like this.
Afterwards, I took a few days to explore the city and found a few other shops in the area that supposedly sold genuine Goyard bags. I was hesitant to invest again, so I read up on customer reviews and tried to research the authenticity of the bags online. Fortunately, I found a few shops that were definitely trustworthy and ever since then I’ve been browsing Goyard bags for my collection.
Overall, my fake Goyard experience in New York was a unique learning experience. A few days of research can make all the difference when it comes to investing in a bag. It’s definitely worth the extra effort and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a luxury bag purchase!
Now, after experiencing this first-hand, I’m absolutely passionate about raising awareness on the importance of passing the right information and pushing for brands to invest in better quality control. Many people, like myself, believe that transparency is key when it comes to luxury items. Customers want to know what they are buying is of the same quality and luxury as the one shown in the pictures. It’s an important issue for us and we’re doing our best to spread the word.
Not only do I keep turning up trends that people should pay attention to when it comes to buying “luxury” items, I also like to document the stories of people who have gone through similar experiences as mine. Hearing their accounts and how they were able to stay vigilant, motivated and positive despite the disappointment is truly an inspiration.
All of us can be deceived when it comes to luxury bags, specially from an online platform, so I find it especially important to be extra cautious when it comes to major purchases like these. It’s important to pay attention to the company’s return policy, customer service responses and to also read up on customer’s reviews. Doing research can help us all find exactly what we’re looking for.
I’m also all for supporting initiatives which prove genuine items, like holograms, micro-chips or one-time-only authentication codes. These processes are often required when getting authentications from reliable sources if we want to make sure we’re getting the value or quality we’re expecting.
Also, if we purchase blindly from a website we should make sure that the company offers a guarantee certificate that is backed by experts in the authentication of luxury brand items. This will provide us with a safeguard when it comes to online purchases while also offering us a higher payment if needed.
Of course, another way to go about it and make sure we’re really getting the real deal is to personally visit the store and double check the authentication ourselves. We might even ask the C-Level executives from the stores about their authenticity to get a clearer answer.
