I recently met someone from Tbilisi and they told me about the fake bags that are sold in the city. At first, I was surprised. I thought that Tbilisi was a place of luxury shopping, so I couldn’t understand why people would be selling fake bags there. But my friend explained that the fake bag market in Tbilisi is actually pretty large and established.
The fake bags are sold in the back alleys of the city, usually in small booths and stalls. The bags are often times made with the same material that genuine designer bags are made from, so they look just like the real thing. However, since these bags are not officially released by the designer brands, they are a lot cheaper than the genuine items.
My friend told me that the locals are quite fond of the fake bags as they can get their hands on the same styles as they see in the movies or online, but at a fraction of the cost. I can definitely understand why, and I thought it was nice that people can still get their hands on something that they would love even if it’s not the genuine article.
I’m kind of tempted to go check out the fake bags myself, I mean it’s not everyday you get the chance to get designer style bags at such a low cost. Besides, even if the quality of the bags aren’t as good as the real thing, you still get to have the feel and aesthetic of the genuine items.
What’s more, the traders in Tbilisi are quite friendly. My friend told me that whenever they get asked about the quality of their goods, they will just let the customer do some tests to prove its authenticity. Such as bending the bag, stretching it or heating up the material to ensure that it is indeed genuine.
I’m very tempted to check it out for myself. I mean, I’m sure I could find some really good deals there. I think it’s such an amazing opportunity for people who are on a budget, but still want to look fashionable. Do you reckon I should give it a try?
