Everyone loves an LV bag, but not everyone can distinguish between an authentic and a fake one! As I recently discovered, I was quite inexperienced in this topic – until I decided to do some research on it.
To begin, the texture of the original LV bag is usually noticeably higher quality than their replicas. The fabric itself is usually heavier and thicker compared to the texture of the faux bags. The straps can give an additional insight into the bag’s authenticity, as well. Genuine LV bags often feature longer straps, just like the original model. This is an important indicator of its quality!
On top of that, LV bags are well-known for stitching details. The genuine Louis Vuitton bags usually have smooth, even patterns. In contrast, many fake bags have crooked stitching, uneven patterns, and rough edges. This is especially obvious on the handles. Looking closely, you will soon find some inconsistencies in the stitching.
Another factor is the hardware of the bag. Authentic LV bags feature zippers and hardware that opens and closes with ease. It should feel sturdy when you run your fingers along it. On the other hand, fake bags have metal and zippers that are flimsy. They are also usually lighter and the hinge often looks weak.
Finally, the most famous aspect of Louis Vuitton is the notorious monogram. The monogram of the original bags will have a raised texture and look crisp. You should also be able to clearly read the letters without any discrepancies. Fake bags are more likely to show off uneven lettering or other inconsistencies.
The most telltale sign of a fake LV bag however, is the price tag. An authentic LV bag can range from quite expensive to highly expensive. Whereas, a faux bag is cheaper, and therefore, more accessible. It is not a surprise that most people who want to buy an LV bag first check the price tag.
When it comes to the actual labeling, the original LV bags have embossed logos, the same colour as the bag. Fake ones tend to be printed on the logos, usually of a lighter color. It is also important to look closely at the heat stamp, as it may differ from the color of the bag.
Having said all of that, the differences between an original and fake LV bag are quite numerous. The main takeaway should be that authentic bags have a much higher quality feel and look to them. They often even come with a certificate and dust bag that clearly states the brand’s logo. You should always investigate before purchasing an LV bag, and not be taken in by suspiciously low prices!
