Sometimes creating the perfect IV bags can be quite a hard task. It involves a lot of careful preparation and meticulous attention to detail. After all, a doctor or nurse cannot make a mistake with a patient’s IV bags, as these can impact their well-being and health. Though, when it comes to making fake IV bags, it’s a whole different ball game.
Out of curiosity, I decided to find out how to make a fake IV bag. Luckily, I found quite a comprehensive guide on the internet that I could follow. There were steps for making the bag, and some pieces of advice regarding exactly what to fill it with. Below is a gist of the guide I was able to find.
First of all, you need to find the right parts and materials to build the bag. You will need things such as a plastic bag, strong needles, thick cord, scissors, tweezers, and, of course, a filler material. All these items can be easily found in any good craft store.
After finding all the necessary items, it’s time to assemble the bag itself. This involves cutting the plastic bag into two proper-sized halves, filling the one side with the dummy material, pushing a needle through the other half, and looping the thick cord around to stop the material coming out. Then, you pinch the two halves together and push another needle into it, at the other end, so the two halves stick firmly together. Finally, tie the thick cord around the top to make sure it stays together.
I thought that this was quite interesting, but I wanted to make sure that my fake IV bags looked professional and realistic. To this end, I used a few tweezers to make sure everything was firmly in place and finished the job off with some nice accents and ribbons. This way, not only did my bag look realistic, but it also had a nice festive look to it!
Emboldened by this success, I started to make more bags. I ordered a greater range of items and materials, so that my fake IVs could look even more impressive. This time, I studied some pictures of IVs and compared them to my own creations. Although there were differences, by paying careful attention to the details, I was able to create some pretty realistic-looking bags.
I also explored adding a greater range of lovely accents. One time I managed to find some artificial ivy to put on the bags – something that really made them look quite professional. Similarly, I also used ribbons and other finishing touches to add to the effect.
At this point, I was quite pleased with the results I had achieved. I had gone from no knowledge of making fake IVs to creating quite decent-looking bags. So far, everything had gone well, but was there anything else I could do to make them life-like?
