After that, the story blew up – literally! The police began to get questions from all over the country on this suspicious activity. It turns out that the company behind the body bags was a fake. Someone had been using the newspaper logos to try and make money while making it look like these bags were real.
I was completely floored when I found out. I thought to myself, “How could someone get away with such a scam?” It’s strange how people can think up these types of schemes and how no one can catch them. It sure seems like a lot of people lost some money because of this.
At first, I was really concerned that this could happen in my own town. Being so close by, I wondered what would have happened if I had been the one to come across this. However, the more I considered the implications of the story, the more I started to feel that it wasn’t a just a local issue. After all the body bags had been purchased all over the country, so I concluded that it was a nationwide issue.
Then I started to think about how this incident was reflective of the larger issues happening in our society. It reminded me of how some people are so desperate they’ll resort to anything to make some money. It’s a sad truth that we all know, and this story made it hit home. Plus, it was another reminder of how fake news can be so damaging to so many, so quickly.
This also made me think about how many issues in our world are often not taken seriously until something disastrous happens. Precautionary measures are important and this story is a perfect example of why. It was difficult hearing about this because I’m sure it affected so many people. I just hope that the police were able to get to the bottom of this and that justice was served.
