Once upon a time, I was on the hunt for a new luxurious bag for myself. After some research, I decided to get a Louis Vuitton bag. This was something that I had longed for so, the choice was obvious. As most bags that come under the luxury label, these are pretty expensive. I had read about these bags and how the quality and craftsmanship was top-notch. Needless to say, I was sold!
But, I soon faced a dilemma- should I get the original item or a fake one? Fake Louis Vuitton bags are much less expensive than the real deal and are easily available in most malls and outlets. I obviously wanted to make sure that I got my money’s worth, and was determined to own an authentic bag.
So, I went ahead and checked all the detailed features and compared them with the fake ones one by one. To begin with, the genuine one had leather trims that are attached firmly with tiny hand stitches, whereas the fake one has leather that hangs loosely. Also, the authentic bag had the handles precisely placed on the bag (not too close or too far apart) and had a thickness of 8 stitches per inch. Moreover, one of the obvious differences between the fake one and the authentic one was that the material used in the fakes was much worse, and it didn’t have that signature smell that comes with the original product.
At the end of the day, I had to decide between going with a fake one that managed to deceive me, or spending the extra bucks and getting a real Louis Vuitton bag. After much thought, I went with the latter. And, I’m so glad that I did, because now not only do I carry around a good quality bag, but I also have pride in owning a real luxury product.
The story doesn’t end here though. I was well aware of all the other features that would distinguish a real Louis Vuitton bag from a fake with regards to external indicators like the quality of the leather, the color of the thread, and the font size of the texts. The gold-engraved LV pattern on the genuine one was definitely another giveaway. But I soon read that some of the sellers go to such extent of duplicating the original tags that, even to an experienced eye, it can be difficult to make out the difference between a genuine and a replica.
That’s why I had to be extra careful when I found a bag that I really wanted to purchase. I made it a point to thoroughly inspect the item and confirm its authenticity. I kept in mind things like the fabric, logos, serial numbers, date codes, and look of the lining. To my good fortune, I managed to find a genuine Louis Vuitton bag that fit my budget and was above my expectations. I couldn’t be more glad!
To sum it up, the main takeaway from my search for a Louis Vuitton bag is this- while a fake Louis Vuitton bag is definitely much cheaper and looks almost identical, the tangible sensations of having a real one will far exceed that of a fake. It’s not just a bag; it’s an investment in itself and something you can pass down to further generations. Therefore, I’d recommend you to go for authenticity and always check the details before you buy.
