My friend, who knows me all too well, recently sent me a message about Melissa Gorga and her fake bags. Today I felt it was time to finally address the topic. As you know I’m a huge fan of fashion, and when I heard that an influencer like Melissa was selling counterfeit bags, I was taken aback.
It’s a shame that someone with such a large public platform would be selling fake products, but at the same time I continue to remind myself of the importance of doing your research. Any product that has a big price tag should be thoroughly looked into, and if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
I think the biggest issue here is that Melissa Gorga put her reputation on the line without realizing what she was selling. It’s almost as if she was blindly endorsing the product which is never a good idea. She should’ve done her due diligence before selling these bags, and although some fans might have been duped, it still isn’t right.
The worst part is that the fake bags could lead to a financial drain for the buyer. Not only is their money going down the drain, but they have a phony product to show for it as well. I wish Melissa was more mindful with her products, because now that these bags are out there it’s possible that more and more people will buy them. It could put a huge dent in the pocket of those that overlooked the fraudulent product.
I also have a feeling that this scandal could have been easily avoided. Melissa could’ve taken a few extra steps to ensure the legitimacy of her products, and by choosing not to do that it’s possible that her reputation as well as the reputations of those who follow her could be tarnished.
The whole situation boils me up inside. Melissa Gorga has been living the high life for a while and selling fake designer bags just seems to make her lose a little bit of that shine. I feel like someone of her caliber should be more aware of the products they’re selling, and if she had done her due diligence, this whole ordeal could have been avoided. And that’s why I always remind myself to research the products before buying them and urge all my friends to do the same.
What’s more disheartening is that a lot of the people who purchased these bags didn’t even do any research and just blindly followed Melissa’s endorsement. This isn’t just about Melissa, it’s about the customers who are reliant on her influence. It’s a reminder that we should never trust someone’s word without doing due diligence.
No matter how much we might like someone, the fact is that we should always take the time to research the products we’re buying. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of buying something new, but if we don’t take a few minutes to do our homework, we could wind up regretting it.
We have to remember that these situations happen all the time, even with the most influential people in the world. Fortunately, there are tools in place that can help us identify counterfeit products, but in the end it is always our responsibility to protect ourselves against fraud and scam.
In the future, I hope these fake bag scandals become a thing of the past, but until then, I urge everyone to be careful and do their research before purchasing any item. As consumers, it’s our job to make sure that we get the real deal rather than a knock off.
