My best friend Bina recently bought a Celine Trapeze Bag – a classic piece she’s been eyeing up for a long time. Her bag was such a gorgeous, simple statement piece that I got really excited for her until I realised it may be a fake. It’s been a topic which has been increasingly prominent over the past few years and I was curious to determine whether Bina had the real deal or a copy.
At first glance, my suspicions arose as the bag cost significantly less than the market value. Besides, as a major fan of luxury fashion, I had long been familiarised with the intricate details of Celine products. I knew the placement of the leather rails, the weight of the zip and the quality of the lining material were quickly identifiable to the eye.
So when I finally had the chance to inspect Bina’s bag, my heart sunk. Both the stitching and the leather were sloppy and the pattern of the fabric made it look pretty fake. It didn’t have the golden Celine logo that is normally stamped at the bottom front of their handbags. Not to mention, the zipper easily slipped out of its teeth.
I felt so bad for Bina because I had to inform her on the possibility of it being a fake. Although she was disappointed, she was thankful for me being a fan of luxury fashion as it saved her from unknowingly purchasing a piece of counterfeit goods.
Undeniably, spotting fake Celine Trapeze bags is not a simple task. There is, however, a few tips to help you differentiate a real bag from a fake. Pay close attention to the pattern of the material which is usually unique to genuine Trapeze bags. Furthermore, always check for a Celine stamp or logo at the bottom of the bag. Finally, investigate the quality of the fabric, leather and hardware. Fake bags are generally rough and unrealistic looking.
Despite these telling signs, it’s not always easy to spot a fake Celine bag at first glance. However, with a keen eye for detail it’s actually possible to discern. The safest and most reliable way to find a real Celine Trapeze bag is to head to the store where you’ll be provided with the official authenticity certificate. That way, it’s an absolute guarantee you’ll have the real deal!
I advised Bina to stay away from such second hand stores in the future and emphasised the importance of investing in the proper channels. In the luxury fashion industry, it’s important to be aware of the increasing occurrences of fake goods and learn to acquire the real deals.
Talking to Bina has made me realise that preservation of one’s style and identity in a safe and secure way is something that must be taken seriously. We have to be mindful of the perils which could befall any honest, fashion-conscious person. After all, nobody wants to be tricked into buying fake products!
