I just moved to Ras Al Khaimah and was looking to do some shopping. I couldn’t believe my luck when I stumbled upon a sale on fake bags! As a girl who loves her designer bags I was so stoked. Little did I know this was gonna be the beginning of a long and arduous journey.
At first, I was super excited at the prospect of getting a designer grade bag at a fraction of the price. However after a few days of using the bag, things started to unravel. First, the leather was cracking and peeling off the bag like baking paper coming off a cake. I knew the leather wasn’t real but thought it would last a little longer than this!
The second problem I faced was when my friends began querying the authenticity of the bag. Well, let’s just say it was pretty easy to tell they were looking at a knock-off. I mean it had all the tell-tale signs of the classic fake – the stitching was wobbly, the zippers were flimsy, the hardware wasn’t the weight that it should be, and the colours had a garish sheen to them. Needless to say, it was very embarrassing for me.
But that wasn’t the worst part. When I went to return the bag I was told that I was out of luck. Turns out there were no exchanges or returns for fake bags in Ras Al Khaimah. Wasn’t this the reason why I chose to shop here, I thought to myself. I thought that real designer bags must be a thing of the past and that shopping in Ras Al Khaimah meant that I was getting the same quality but at a much lower price. Boy was I wrong!
My take away from this is to never buy fake bags in Ras Al Khaimah. Yes, they may be cheaper and more accessible than the real thing, but it doesn’t mean they’re good quality. At the end of the day, it’s just not worth it. It’s better to save up for a real designer bag, because then you know you’re getting the quality and durability you deserve!
I saw a few stores selling real designer bags, which gave me a glimmer of hope. After all, if there is a market for real bags, then that’s an indication of quality. I decided to invest in a real designer bag and let me tell you, it was the best money I ever spent. The bag felt like it was made with love and I felt like it was made for me. Plus, it seemed like it was made to last forever – bonus points for durability.
Unlike with the fake bag, when I went to return my real designer bag, I was met with a warm smile and was told I could exchange it for anything in the store without any hassle. Needless to say, that was a great feeling! The store had so many beautiful designer bags in stock and I was like a kid in a candy store as I made my selection.
Finally, I left the store feeling like I’d been on a roller coaster ride. I’d learned my lesson and was determined to never buy a fake bag again. I was so happy to have a designer bag that I’d be proud carry around, and at the same time, I’d also saved money! What more could a girl ask for?
