It’s been two months since I returned from a dreamy vacation in Tenerife. I went there with a bunch of friends and had so much fun. Little did I know that this was about to be the trip of a lifetime!
One day my friends and I were innocently wandering through the city when we saw a shop advertising ‘genuine’ Tenerife handbags. We thought that these bags seemed too good to be true, so we made a decision to check them out. We stepped in and what we saw blew us away! On the shelves were dozens of designer bags, all for incredibly cheap prices. We were all super excited.
At first, we couldn’t believe our luck. But then we realised that something wasn’t quite right. We looked closely and noticed that some of the bags had small discrepancies such as different stitching on the handles. We all knew then and there that these were fake bags! We couldn’t believe that we had fallen for such a scam.
The thought of having wasted all that money made us so angry. We felt betrayed, but also incredibly frustrated with ourselves. We wanted to do something about it, so we contacted the local consumer protection agency, hoping they could help.
Luckily enough they managed to get us a refund. Unluckily enough we had to go through a long and painstaking process to get it. We had to answer a lot of personal and private questions and make multiple trips to the agency.
I’m still mad that we fell for this scam, but I’m also glad that we got our money back. Now I’m always wary when I’m shopping in foreign countries – you just never know what’s real and what’s not. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
