Man, did I get taken for a ride! Last weekend, I was walking around Canal Street, and I was super excited at the prospect of finding an amazing deal on a designer bag. I figured a fake bag wouldn’t be such a bad thing – I mean, come on, I’m not made of money!
So, I was looking around and saw these unbelievable fake designer bags and they were too good to be true. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I couldn’t believe the price tag and before I knew it, I handed over my cash and purchased one of the bags.
Boy, was I in for a surprise! As soon as I got the bag home and opened up the box, I realized that the bag was really a fake. I mean, I knew it wasn’t a real designer bag but that didn’t mean I should be okay with having paid way too much for such an obvious knock-off.
Of course, I knew I wasn’t going to get a real designer bag for the price that I had paid for it but still, I expected it to be at least good enough to last more than a few months. The truth was, it didn’t even last a month – the handles started to come off in a few days, the zippers didn’t work, and the straps started to tear.
I was really disappointed. I felt like an idiot for being so quick to buy it without doing my research. I have learnt a good lesson – to shop around and know what I’m buying beforehand.
I totally understand why people get taken in by the great deals of fake designer bags on Canal Street. It’s all too tempting. But, I’d like to think that I’ve been wiser and now, I take my time when shopping. I feel like if you make sure you’re not getting taken for a ride, you can actually find some decent designer at a good rat that can last for a couple of seasons.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to doing research and checking out the reviews and photos of the bags online. That way, you won’t get taken for a ride and can make a smart purchase.
Overall, I’ve learnt my lesson and now I am better prepared when I’m shopping for designer bags on Canal Street. There are still great deals to be had, but it’s important to make sure that you’re getting your money’s worth.
