I was wandering around the mall the other day and I saw this amazing green MCM bag in a store window. It was a stunning lime green color, with a diamond pattern stitched into the fabric. I had to have it! I was so excited, I had never seen a bag like this before and I just had to get it. Little did I know that it was a fake…
When I came home and showed it to my friends, they quickly spotted it was a fake. I was so disappointed and embarrassed. I felt like a fool. I mean, it looked so legit, it was definitely deceiving. I mean, MCM bags aren’t exactly cheap, so why would I think it was real? It was just too good to be true.
I tried to look on the bright side, though. I mean, it might be a fake, but it still looks darn good. I actually like it even better than some of the real bags I had seen before, it’s unique and kinda funky. It was only a few bucks, so I figured I get my money’s worth in style. Plus, I didn’t feel as guilty when I didn’t use it!
But then I started getting suspicious, too. How could someone get away with making a fake version of an expensive brand bag, and make it right down to the diamond pattern stitching? I wondered, was this the same pattern used on all MCM bags? Was this just one of those flukes where someone had copied the design? And if it was, did I want to be associated with something so dodgy?
I figured it was time to do some research. After all, I wanted to find out the truth. So I googled ‘green MCM bags stark lime fake’ and sure enough, I found out that my bag was indeed a fake. Apparently, there had been a rash of fake MCM bags popping up in different parts of the country, which had been produced by a sophisticated counterfeiting network. Whoa! That was a scary thought.
I must admit, my feelings were a bit mixed. I was disappointed that the bag wasn’t real, but I couldn’t help still liking it. At the end of the day, I had found a beautiful, unique bag, for a fraction of the cost of a real one! It was almost a win-win.
Despite all my search results, I still wondered what kind of bag would be legit, or at least reasonably close to a real MCM bag. In the end, I decided I would ask around to some of my friends. I knew a few of them were into MCM bags, and maybe they had some insights to share. Thankfully, they hooked me up with some insider advice and pointed me in the right direction.
So now I can proudly say that I do have a real MCM bag! It’s a beautiful brown colour, with the same diamond pattern stitching—though it’s not quite as much of an eye-catcher as my previous green one. But at least now I know I didn’t buy a fake. I’m glad I asked around for some advice and found a genuine bag.
