how to make fake rocks out of paper bags

I recently found out how to scale down the size of big rocks and make them look like miniature rocks with paper bags from a friend. Before I tell you how to do it, let me just say that this little trick is awesome! It’s easy, affordable, and the results are quite impressive.

I started by gathering my supplies: paper bags, scissors, a ruler, painters’ tape or masking tape and some acrylic or acrylic paints. I decided to go with a color scheme of whites, grays, and blacks to give it that realistic “rocky” look.

I measured and cut the paper bags to the size I wanted my rocks to be. After cutting, I arranged the paper bags in the shape of the rocks. Then, I used the tape to keep them in place. This would become the base of my rocks and thus needed to be sturdy and not fall off.

Next, I used the acrylic paints to cover the paper bags and give the rocks texture. For this, I made light strokes on each side to create the “3D” effect on the rocks. Lastly, I added some detailing around the edges to give the rocks more depth.

The final step was to add the details. I used a few shades of charcoal pencils to add some cracks and dark spots. I also added some moss and lichen to enhance the overall realism of the rocks.

I must say that the results were much better than I expected! The paper bag rocks I made ended up looking quite realistic and I was really proud of the outcome.

Now that I have shared with you how to make rocks out of paper bags, it’s time to put the method into practice. What do you think? Shall we give it a shot and see how it turns out?

Next, I decided to try molding my paper rocks like real rocks. I started by tearing the paper bags so they had a more jagged, rock-like shape. Then, I went over each surface with the acrylic paints and added some different colors and highlights to give it more life.

After that, I used pieces of masking tape to fix the rock shapes and keep them in place. As the tape was sticking to the rocks, I started adding some moss and lichen to give them even more texture.

Finally, I used charcoal pencils to draw some lines on the rocks to give them more detail. The entire process was really fun and I was very impressed with the results.

I was able to create a unique and realistic set of rocks out of paper bags that could be used as props. By using the right materials and taking the time to experiment with the process, you can make your own miniature rocks using paper bags.
