I couldn’t believe it when I first heard that Meghan Markle had designed her own tote bag! Ever since she got married to Prince Harry, I’ve been a huge fan of her fashion choices and admire the way she puts together an outfit. So when I heard about the tote bag I knew I needed one!
Though it seemed like a huge undertaking, I decided to try and replicate her design. After some research, I discovered that the bag leather of choice was dark brown oiled suede, so I ordered some and got to work. I imported a rose gold horseshoe clasp and was ready to start sewing.
What I didn’t expect was how difficult it was to get the proportions of the bag just right. I must have sewn and ripped out stitches at least a dozen times, along with making adjustments to the strap length. I felt like I was creating a masterpiece.
Finally, I had my version of the Meghan Markle tote bag and it was even more beautiful than I’d imagined! It was such a thrill to be able to wear something that was inspired by fashion royalty. I felt like I was walking in her footsteps and I couldn’t wait to show it off.

When friends complimented me on my tote bag, it made me feel really proud. I had crafted and designed something that so many people seemed to appreciate and it was such an amazing feeling. I thank Meghan Markle for designing the bag, because it was a real conversation starter and I never got tired of talking about it.
