I didn’t trust the man a bit, but the mango bag was attractive and quite a bargain. So, I looked it over and eventually decided to buy it. When I got home and started unpacking my groceries, I quickly realized I had been conned. It wasn’t the mango bag I thought it was – it was a fake! It was made out of cheap, flimsy plastic that would barely hold the weight of the mangos.
I was mad and immediately thought of the old man who sold me the bag. Of course, I couldn’t find him when I went back to the market the next day. He had probably sensed I would eventually realize I got screwed and go looking for him. What a smart guy!
Ultimately, this experience taught me that even when something in life looks too good to be true, it might be too good to be true. I know I’ll never be so quick to jump into opportunities in the future, and always make sure I’m buying from dependable sources. In a way, this experience was actually a blessing in disguise since I learned how to protect myself.
So the moral of the story is: be careful where you shop for mango bags! I mean, imagine the guilt you’d feel when you discover the person you trusted sold you a fake. Not cool! That could have easily been me.
