My friend, I recently found myself in a situation that I’m positively sure we can all relate to – selling fake bags on Mercari. Now, it’s not a situation you want to be in, but I’m sure we’ve all been there and know how to come out of it.
It starts off innocently enough; I got a great deal on a bag and decided to give it a shot. I was so sure that I would be making a decent amount of money on this bag, so I got the bag and listed it on Mercari. But then I started to see a lot of similar bags listed, some even exactly like the one I had!
So then the sinking realization moments in: these bags were counterfeit! I was selling the knock-off goods to unsuspecting buyers, and had I known it was a fake, I wouldn’t have even bothered with it. What a bummer!
But instead of losing my head over this situation, I quickly revised my approach. I took a few steps to make sure that I’m not selling more of these counterfeit items. I started researching into the source I was buying from and the authenticity of the items I was buying from them. After making sure none of the goods were counterfeit, I opted to only list the real items, which had an obvious and visible difference from the counterfeits.
From then on I made sure to double and triple check any goods that I was buying, to ensure that they were of good quality and 100% authentic. Now, I’m not willing to take the risk of selling something that I’m not completely sure about. Being able to tell the real from the fake separates the pros from the cons, and I’m not willing to be in the former camp anymore!
Now, whenever I’m looking to purchase something from a store or website, I make sure to do my research beforehand. Ensuring the quality and detail of the bag, along with checking what counterfiet messlook alike, allows me to know that I’m not selling something that I know is a duplicate.
Finally, I also make sure to always ask for more information from the seller before committing to a purchase. I make sure to ask questions such as where they bought the item from, when they bought it, etc., so that I can be 100% sure that the item is genuine.
This goes for any item that I’m purchasing. I won’t settle for anything but the real deal. I know how difficult it is to come across a situation like this, and it’s better to be safe than sorry. That’s why it is so important to know the source of an item before buying or listing it on Mercari.
