I just came back from Souk Dubai, amazingly packed with fake bags! Flipping through the crowds, I couldn’t believe how many there were. It was like a sea of luxury bags, from all the designer brands. I saw models of Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton and even Chanel. It was simply outrageous! Upon further examination, I found that the copies were amazingly close to the real thing. They had the same textures, stitching, and even had the correct labels.
It seemed crazy to me that people could be fooled into buying these fake bags. I could tell even before examining them up close. Even the packaging felt different – when I got closer I saw that the logo wasn’t authentic! Nevertheless, people were still falling for them. It was crazy to watch people deciding to buy these fake bags.
To be honest, I felt kind of bad for these vendors. They were just trying to make a living and get people out there the prettiest, latest and trendiest bag. Who were we to stop them? After all, it’s just a status symbol.
At first, I was really amazed. But after walking around more and more, I started to feel a little bit overwhelmed by all the fake bags. I was starting to really get sick of the sight of them. I got so angry that some of these vendors were making lots of money by selling these bogus products in the name of luxury brands.
It’s not like everyone who buys fakes is a bad person. Of course, there are some who will buy the real thing. And there are those who want to own a piece of luxury even if it’s a fake. But that doesn’t mean it’s okay to profit on the backs of people who don’t know any better.
I’m not sure what the right answer is. While I see the appeal of buying a cheaper version of a pricey bag, I would definitely recommend doing some research before making a purchase. Only by doing this can we make sure that we don’t get fooled into buying a fake bag.
