Wow, to this day I still cannot believe that I was fooled so easily by a fake Michael Kors bag. I just had to have it, you know? It was so tempting with its perfect stitching and beautiful faux leather. The online price tag made it even more desirable and I knew it was too good to be true. It was hard to say no.
When I received it in the mail, I was elated. I mean, I knew it was a knockoff (I mean, it’s not like it was from the Michael Kors boutique or anything) and though I’d read the reviews, a part of me still had my doubts. But it had arrived, and it was gorgeous! Until I started examining it. That’s when I realized I had made one huge mistake.
As I flipped it upside down and felt around the stitches, I could see that the inside of the bag was made of cheap, thin fabric. It was definitely not leather. The lining was so thin, in fact, I was sure the contents of the bag would rip through it in no time. And that’s exactly what happened. My keys poked through it like they weren’t even there.
Moreover, I got a really nasty shock when I opened the side pocket and found that the zip had broken. Unbelievable! It had broken after just a few uses! After examining the zip, I found that the flimsy metal was barely operational and the design was sloppy. It was missing several teeth and the visible bolts were out of place. All in all, I didn’t spend too much, but I felt completely ripped off.
I was so disappointed. The outside of the bag looked fine, but the inside was an absolute disaster. It was clear that whoever made it had not paid much attention to the details. I guess they figured no one would bother to take a look inside, but they were very wrong. I had learned my lesson and so it went straight to the bin.
The experience of buying a fake Michael Kors bag was frustrating to say the least.
Now, let’s look a bit closer into the fabric of the bag. The fabric was obvious very cheap, poor quality and thin. Once I touched it, I realized it was really rough and felt like sandpaper. It was definitely not the luxurious silk Michael Kors usually uses. It was simply some generic fabric that was really uncomfortable on the skin.
Moving to the hardware, it was so bad it not even worth mentioning. The metallic buckle and chain were just painted plastic. They looked alright but they felt paper thin and you could tell it would break soon, if you put a bit of weight on it.
The seams were all sewed with thick thread and were simply awful. You could see lines of stitches everywhere. Each and every one of them was made with uneven lengths and that is why, when I turn the bag upside down, the inside of it was visible. I just couldn’t believe it, how sloppy and rush the manufacturing process was. Whoever made that bag had no respect for the quality and craftsmanship of Michael Kors.
Speaking of the pockets, they were just a joke! The tiny pocket at the back of the purse was simply a cloth pocket and the zipper was not even a zipper but a cheap plastic one. It came quickly undone and let all the contents out. Meanwhile, the inside pockets were made of thin fabric and the stitching was poorly done with several knots seen. It was a disaster!
Finally, after examining the seals, I could see that they were not signed. Usually, Michael Kors bags have their signature ‘MK’ stamped on the seals. But, this bag had none of that. It was clear that this bag was not authentic.
And there it was, the telling tale of a fake Michael Kors bag. Buying a fake wasn’t the best idea and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. You get what you pay for and the cheap materials used in the making of the bag will never deceive you!
